Different Types of Income

Whoa..

It's been 5 months huh!

Missed me? =D

I've been going through a lot of personal things lately and I've learnt a whole lot more about myself during that time.

Anyway, let's get started eh?

There are 3 main types of income, which are:

1. Earned or Working Income
2. Residual Income
3. Passive Income

I will talk use the term 'leverage' as we move along. If you're not familiar with the it, please feel free to read up my previous post on leverage: Secrets Of The Rich - Leverage

So, what are they about?

1. Earned or Working Income

Everyone of you should be familiar with this. It is the type of income where you mainly trade your time for money, like jobs and most freelance work. Simply put - if you stop working, so does your income.

This is the type of income with the least amount of leverage.

2. Residual Income

This form of income is commonly mistaken to be the same as 'Passive Income', which it isn't. How does this differ from Working Income? Residual Income has more leverage...meaning: you do not have to put in as much time and effort to receive this form of income.

Some examples are MLM/Network Marketing, Internet Marketing, Businesses of all sorts.

3. Passive Income

This is the holy grail of all who wants to be rich. Why? As it's name suggests, this is money earned without being active (or with minimal supervision). What's the point of being rich when you don't have the time to spend it? It's money that comes in whether you're drinking coconuts in Hawaii or busy painting your latest WW2 models at your summer home.

Most incomes of this sort are from investments, like dividends from stocks and businesses , rentals from properties, as well as intellectual property like patents, copyrights and trademarks that you own, where money is paid to you whenever someone uses your trademarked name or your pantented invention.

Also, if done right, Internet Marketing and MLMs are forms of passive income as well. You will know when that happens because money comes in, without interruption, even when you aren't around.

So, what kind of income do you have?

You Are Absolutely Right About Everything

As Henry Ford mentioned:

"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right."

Isn't that one of those quotes and really makes you sit down, shut up and then marvel at it's simplicity and depth?

However, if you really paid attention, it isn't just some advice on how to think positively when the going gets tough.

It really gets much bigger than that.

Remember the saying: " Be careful what you wish for?"

Yes. It basically means whatever you think is, is.

If you believe that in your world, you're a loser, that all rich people are greedy b******s, that the poor suffer at the hands of manipulative d***s, that the world has few successful people and that the government is always out to get your money?

Guess what? You're right.

If, however, you believe that you are here to make the world a better place, that all rich people became rich because of their talents and abilities, that success is a matter of choice not circumstances and that the government is genuinely trying their best to help you out...

Guess what? You're right as well.

My point is, you will attract whatever you believe is true.

If rich people, to you, are conniving arseh****, you will find that most rich people u meet will be as such.

If, to you, you live in a dog eat dog world, your experience in life will be as such.

If, to you, success is a decision, then your result will prove it to be as such.

So, from now on, stop blaming external factors for your regrets and start being accountable for your own life.

It's true that there will be circumstances that can't be controlled (ie. we didn't have a choice of parents before we were born). However, once you have been delt the cards of life, your results will ultimately be based on how you play those cards. So you're gonna blame the dealer for your crappy hand? Even if it really was the dealer's fault, whatcha gonna do about it? Stop being a whiny loser, get over it and move on.

As the title reads: you are absolutely right about everything.

So, shouldn't we be right about the right things?

Launching a new business

Hey Folks,

I'm launching a new business very soon.

I'm looking for partners who are:

1. Team players
2. Dynamic
3. Want to succeed
4. Willing to do what it takes to succeed
5. Looking for more in life

and most important of all...parners who are:

6. Willing to learn and be coached.

If you are non of the above, please ignore this message.

If you are any one of those however, please spend some time to go through a few video and audio presentations online at http://www.aaronloy.net/.

P.S: Whether or not you are willing to go through the presentation is also an indication of your own status. i.e. if time is rather spent on watching 'a simple life' then going through some potentially life-changing material, then what I can offer is not suitable for you.

Thanks!

FREE - Make money by trying offers and doing surveys

Hello!

I came across this cute little website that allows you to make money by signing up for offers and doing surveys.

Scam? Nope, the companies they deal are companies like apple and emusic.com, so they seem pretty legit so far.

As a FREE member, you also get discounts/rebates for certain products and services, like 5% rebate when you buy songs off iTunes, and 100% off for Lavalife internet personals! (it might be a 10% typo though...I'll check it out)

Anyways, it's free, I just made US$23.40 in one hour and it seems legit.

O sorry...here's the link :

Enjoy ^^

You Reap What You Sow

Do you believe in karma?

Actually, you know what? You don't have to. All you need to know is that whatever you sow is whatever you reap.

Why did I bring this up?

I was reading Randy Gage's "37 Laws of Prosperity", 1 of 5 books in his "Prosperity Series", and I was kinda irked when I read Laws #1, You Can't Out Give the Universe, which basically says that the universe always gives back to you tenfold, and #19, The Universe always gets it's tithe.

Rule #19 basically means that if you don't give and return gratefully back to the universe, it will still take it's share back from you...in one way or another. Note that it isn't asking for a sacrifice. It's more on the lines of '...remember to be grateful ok? don't take what I gave for granted..."

Now, why am I irked? I think it's because I am reminded by how generous I was when I was much younger. Whenever anybody needed help, I would do so selflessly. Need a donation? I MADE SURE I donated as high as, if not more than most of my more generous peers. Then, I realise that over the years, I became...less generous...and I noticed that the moment that started, my life kinda started going downhill as well. I needn't worry about money then, life was very abundant. That doesn't seem to be the case nowadays.

I guess it's again another reminder that we must be grateful for what we already have and that sometimes, it's not the amount you give, but the act of giving that's important.

Are People Really That Hypocritical?

I still can't understand why people who work in traditional organisations with a pyramid hiriechy,
- Where they don't get an equal chance to reach the top
- The real winners are the CEO and shareholders

Have to keep shooting down MLMs that:
- Allow everyone an equal chance to reach the top
- Focus is on distributors to win before company does

When they still join REAL PYRAMIDS that:
- Promise fixed returns
- Promise fixed and HIGH returns
- Promise those returns when it is freaking obvious that the company has no source of income except from the greedy people who participate in them.

Talk about a hypocritical world huh?

Giving

One of the many wonderful uses of money is to help people.

For me personally, humans aren't gonna become extinct anytime soon...so I choose to help other charities that focus on saving wildlife and protecting the environment.

One such charity is World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), formally known as World Wildlife Fund. The name change is due to their expanded operations which now not only seek to protect wildlife, but also the environment we live in.

They accept both 1 time donations as well as monthly/annual auto-deductions via credit card, starting from just US$3/month or US$250/year.

Another reason why I focus more on environmental charities? No environment, No people.

So, if you're like me, passionate about the environment yet do not currently wield enough influence and power to contribute substantially, I would encourage you to start small and donate a small monthly amount.

Just visit http://www.panda.org/ or click on the cute little panda to start =D

Thanks maties!

Do Hobbies Make Good Business?

Here's my take on the subject. My main question is this:

Are you in it for the money, or the hobby?

Now let us look at the characteristics of a hobby and a business:

Hobby -
- Something that you are personally interested in
- Something that you are willing to sacrifice time and money for
- Something that you do for the sake of its enjoyment
- Something..of which it's 'essense' is very important
- Something that you have passion for
- Dictionary definition: an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation: Her hobbies include stamp-collecting and woodcarving.

Business -
- Something..of which it's purpose is to make a profit
- An entity that supposedly brings a product to the market place to make a profit
- An entity that supposedly solves problems to make a profit

Do you see what I see?

In summary, a hobby is an activity you do for pleasure while a business is there for the purpose of making money.

Well, that's great you say.. doesn't that mean I'm mixing pleasure with money making?

Yes...and no...

That's what makes this question so important - are you in it for the Money, or the Hobby?

If you are in it for the money, then I guess you'd have a problem. If you look past the rosy picture of people earning money doing what they love, then you'd notice that most hobby-based start-ups have one thing in common.

They start small and more often than not, remain small.

Read: I'm not saying that hobby based businesses are not profitable. I'm saying that more often than not, they stay small.

So if you are into Money, or Big Money for that matter, then I suppose you'd be better of looking to start a Big Business as opposed to a Hobby Business.

Well ok, why can't I have a Big Hobby Business?

Not that you can't...it will be difficult though.

Why? Well, the focus of a business is to make profits, not pleasure.

So, in order to make a business big, certain sacrifices have to be made in order to keep profits high. And that may be a problem for one whose focus is on the Hobby.

For one, you notice how certain hobbies nowadays seem a little...commercialised? It's as if they lost their flavour...their essense...that 'thing' that made it special. You can feel and almost taste the profit-making decisions made for that product. That part that was replaced because it was not 'cost effective'. Another modified so that it will appeal to the larger market segment. That rule changed so that more people will participate.

Let me use a real life example: the Buggati Veyron..the world's most powerful car.

It is a symbol of passion and engineering excellence. It is however, not very good business. Each car, costing approximately £5,000,000 to manufacture, is sold at a loss.

So, who pays for the passion? Volkswagon.

Well, Volkswagon's focus is to make money. So that they do, and because they do, they are able to fund the passionate endeavour of making the wold's first 1000 horsepower car.

Arguably, it makes business sense because Volkswagon will improve it's prestige by being the associated with Bugatti.

However, the point is, not that you can't make big money with hobbies, that you need to know what you want so you'd know what to expect. So, don't be surprised when you're not making as much money as you like in a hobby based business and likewise, don't be surprised when you're making a lot of money but realised that the hobby itself has lost it's essense because of it.
